The Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2653 mile footpath that travels from the Canada border in northern Washington to the Mexico border in southern California. The trail passes through the states of Washington, Oregon, and California. Most thru-hikers take five months to complete the journey.
On June 20, 2019 we set out with the desire to complete the Pacific Crest Trail as one continuous hike, aka a thru-hike. With our hopes high we hiked through rain, sleet, snow, and freezing temperatures along the North Cascade mountains of Washington. Sadly, due to a pesky stress fracture, our hike ended before we made it out of the state. With the healing time being six weeks or more, finishing the hike would not be possible in our allotted five month timeframe. Keeping things positive, we took a few weeks to recover and then set our sights on an overseas trip to Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
In the next few years we will begin to piece the trail together in sections, until we have completed a footpath from Canada to Mexico.
